I've always loved music - when I was young my parents could always tell when I was in a good mood, because Id. be singing - usually very loudly!!

When I was about ten or eleven, I was given a Casio keyboard for Christmas, and loved working out tunes that I heard on the radio or TV. When I got my Amiga in 1993 I was impressed with it's music capabilities. I used a program called OctaMED, and was delighted to find that they're converting it to the PC!

Download my Music

I've made some of my music available to download. The songs/tunes are in .MP3 format - you'll need an .MP3 player to play them. I recommend WinAmp - to quote the makers: "It really whips the Llama's ass!"... Quite!

Due to space constraints, I've moved my music files to my page on MP3.com.

The Tools I Use

OctaMED SoundStudio
OctaMED SoundStudio takes all the things that were great about music-making on the Amiga, and transfers them to the PC! I'm not particularly well-educated, musically - I can't read music, for example, but I can create some pretty good stuff with OctaMED. It's laid out a lot like a spread sheet, with one column per track. Notes are inserted into cells on the grid then, when the tune is played, a cursor runs down the grid at a constant speed. Any notes on the row the cursor is on are played. Simple!!

CoolEdit 96
CoolEdit is a great little sample editing tool. Effects such as reverb, distortion, flange and many others can be quickly and easily applied. It can also save files in many formats - .WAV, .AU and even Amiga IFF among others!
